Who's behind the screen?

Well hello everyone and welcome to Behind my Blue Eyes.

I am Carmen, a 17 year old, soon to be a university student living in Cape Town, South Africa. Writing has been a passion of mine since the tender age of 9.

I started by writing short stories for my friends. Later this passion turned into me expressing my feelings through poetry and now, I suppose, writing this blog.

In my free time I not only write but also explore other creative fields such as drawing or painting. I tend to my family garden and "rescue" avocado seeds by letting them sprout in repurposed beer bottles. I am always seeking new naturey spots whether that be public parks, forests or botanical gardens

As previously mentioned, I will soon be pursuing my studies. Beginning my studies I will be enrolling in a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities. In terms of future career paths I have a few things in mind. Namely, a psychologist, high school teacher or writer - whether that be journalism or an author.

Is it just me or is this starting to sound like a dating profile?

In terms of this blog, I will be diving into a multitude of topics. This includes topics suggested by you, the reader! You can expect to see advice I may have to share, reflections of societal happenings and plenty of my opinions.

This blog is for everyone... parents seeking insight into the minds of their young-adults, students in need of tips, visionaries, creatives, other writers and anyone in need of a safe space.
